Nature holds a huge draw for me and is healing and regenerative. My paintings are not planned or organized but directed by my inner spirit, I am the muse that applies the paint. My work is contemporary abstraction.
I work in acrylic paint and colour inspires the effects I create. I use colour and texture to create movement and vitality. Layer after layer of colours develop depth. This is an organic experience that often takes me to places I am not expecting.
These paintings were created in response to the theme “Pathways”.
Geddes’ love of creating art began in 1978, painting watercolours. In the early eighties she moved to Victoria where she attended Victoria College of Art and Camosun College in the Visual Arts Department. She had found her passion.
In 1988, after purchasing an art gallery, she explored another aspect of creativity. She continued viewing art from a business woman’s perspective for 12 years. Since 2003 she has been painting full-time. Colour and texture are her inspiration and the lure of a blank canvas her muse.
Geddes' works are represented by Art Rental and Sales, Victoria, BC Central Studio and Art Gallery, Victoria, BC; Teichert Gallery, Halifax, NS and The Chocolate Shop and Cafe, Annapolis Royal, NS.
