There will be an extra mid-week viewing time on Wednesday April 27th from 11am-2pm.

Against the reality of all the unknowns in life, it’s the persistence of the marvelous that fascinates artist Georgina Montgomery. In this solo exhibition, she explores what it means to accept, and not be undone by, life’s unpredictability. and uncertainties.

Room for Not Knowing features unique photography-based single and assembled print works from Georgina’s “painting with crazed light” project, Caustic Optimism. For more information about her process and the project, visit georginamontgomeryart.com

“[In life] letting there be room for not knowing is the most important thing of all. ... We call something bad; we call it good. But really we just don't know.” (Pema Chödrön)

Artist Bio

Abstract artist, Georgina Montgomery, works in paint, mixed media and photography. Her practice combines her love of abstract expressionism and colour field painting with her fascination in the marvel that we exist and in time—how we understand its scale, measure it, experience it, describe it.

Her work has been shown in numerous juried and non-juried exhibitions.

Georgina grew up in an art-rich environment near Montreal. She has a BA and MA and has pursued art studies for more than 20 years.

Before turning to a full-time art practice, she was a professional writer and editor, in effect using language as she now uses visual art: as a form of interpretation and translation. She works from her home studio in the Cowichan Valley, close to the ocean and mountains.
