We celebrate the arts at St. Matthias in a variety of ways.

On Friday, October 13th at 7 pm, please join us for the 3rd annual Hymns of Thanksgiving with our organist Daniel Brown and special gues pianist Breena Sulz.  The performance will take place in the sanctuary.  All are welcome.

June 9th saw a wonderful performance of  "Nature in Music" in our sanctuary space with the Victoria Chamber Orchestra and friends (including our own music director, Daniel Brown).

Recently, Jessie Paterson presented her "Mingled Yarn" performance in our parish hall.  "Mingled Yarn" is a storied celebration of fibre arts.

Many ideas are percolating ... As Bishop Anna Greenwood-Lee says,  "The future is not going to look like the past, and the future is bright!"  We are so proud of  the outstanding seasons of the Chapel Gallery, which have given us such inspiration and joy.  Building on that great foundation, we know that the bright future will be multifaceted.

The St. Matthias community has a deep and wide love of the arts: we treasure music and drama as well as the visual arts of painting, textiles and sculpture.  Going forward, we are keen to embrace the possible expressions of the arts in forms related to liturgy and worship.  As an example, we invite you, with her kind permission, to recall our first season's exhibit by the wonderfully talented Pyx Sutherland.

The St. Matthias community humbly acknowledges our uninvited presence on the traditional land of the lək̓ʷəŋən People,  known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. We gather, worship and work in gratitude.

We have treasured the warm reception the chapel gallery has enjoyed throughout the community: we extend our deepest appreciation to participating artists, the local community and visitors to Victoria.  We look forward to our future together!  While we embrace our future, we treasure our past, so we invite you to review our earlier exhibitions by following the links below.
