August 2017 Newsletter

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Matthias,   I hope you are staying cool on these hot summer days! It is a quieter month around the Parish, with many away enjoying our lovely summer weather. I will be away myself from the 7th to the 27th and The Rev. Canon Bill Morrison will be with you for those three Sundays.

Last month we enjoyed a few terrific events. Our church sale was another great success and our Vacation Bible school saw 7-11 kids praying, playing and learning throughout the week. In the wider life of our Diocese, we celebrated the ordinations of Gillian Hoyer, Matthew Brown and Christopher Samson to the Priesthood.

Hot off the press! As you know, we have been on the search for a new Music Director this past month and by the grace of God, we have found one! Victoria  Beauchesne has agreed to take on this vital ministry with us beginning on September 10th.  Stay tuned for more details but in the meantime, know that Victoria brings a wealth of experience on both organ and piano and has a love and enthusiasm for leading choirs! We are very excited to have her as part of the St. Matthias team!

There will not be a church sale this August but we will return in September for another chance to buy good books and unexpected treasures!   Below you find a list of the upcoming events. Look for more information as we get closer and may you each have a blessed and restful summer!
