What a wonderfully rich conversation!

What a wonderfully rich conversation!

Thanks to each of you

Warm thanks to all those who enjoyed sandwiches, coffee or tea, and conversation!  We had lots to explore and it was wonderful to hear the comments and questions.  Many thanks to Gabriella Forbes, who offered to take notes.  She's provided the summary here; a fuller set of notes will be available in the church and posted on the wall.

"There was a good turnout to the Parish Conversation held Sunday, October 18, 2026. Participants were engaged, curious and many had suggestions and considerations to add. The general timbre of the conversation was appreciative of the information provided and willing to engage in follow-up conversations eg. about the possibility of renting out the Sanctuary. Running below the general conversation but emerging at several junctures, was a general concern regarding the modest human and financial resources available to St. Matthias at this time in that new initiatives may require additional resources on both fronts. Nonetheless, the overall feeling was committed and hopeful, if somewhat wary."

Bishop Anna comes to visit

Bishop Anna will come to visit St. Matthias on Sunday, January 17th.  As you likely know, Bishop Anna tries to visit every parish in our lovely Diocese of Islands and Inlets at least once a year.  This summer (check out the Bishop's column in Faith Tides), she sailed to several parishes.  Situated in Victoria, with much less quirky travel requirements, especially in Victoria, we can welcome the Bishop at different times of the year!

Mark your calendar!  Bishop Anna is a joyful, warm presence and we always enjoy her visits.
