Join Ireland’s most exciting young tenor Emmet Cahill as he embarks on his biggest solo tour to date and debuts his brand-new album of traditional Irish songs in 2019! This follows his number-one World Music album “Emmet Cahill’s Ireland” on the Sony Music USA label and his sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall.Emmet will perform many of the songs from the new album, as well as Broadway standards, nostalgic favourites, beloved church hymns and operatic arias that showcase his classical vocal training received at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. And no Emmet Cahill concert is complete without the ever-popular “request medley” segment, which often brings surprises from the audience! Emmet is known as a principal singer with the acclaimed Irish music show Celtic Thunder. The Greater Victoria Police ChorusSaturday, February 9, 2019 at 2pm Come and enjoy the talent and voices of The Greater Victoria Police Chorus, under the direction of Janet Rendell!The 35 voice Chorus, with three-piece band accompaniment, will perform a popular variety of music ranging from old standards to Rock and Roll and Canadian Folk.The Chorus has been singing together for over 34 years. Originally formed with serving members of Police departments in the Greater Victoria Region, the Chorus has expanded to include members of other public safety groups, the military and civilians. The Chorus performs regularly in the Greater Victoria Region, other Vancouver Island regions, the Okanagan and has toured in Europe, Alberta and the United States. Chat and ChewCommunity Luncheon - Wednesday, February 27, 2019 The Chat and Chew Community Luncheon started in September of 2018 and has steadily grown since. On the 4th Wednesday of every month, we turn our simple hall into a dining room and have a wonderful time. There is always a 3 course meal with coffee and tea plus some sort of entertainment or learning experience. Some of the meals were Lasagne, Shepherds Pie, Quiche, along with various soups, salads and desserts. The entertainment has ranged from Target Theatre performing a live show to a visit with Santa Clause! The number of people attending has really taken off and we get busier every month. Genevieve Charbonneau: "Heart is a Tower"CD Release Concert - Friday, March 1, 2019 St. Matthias is delighted to welcome Genevieve Charbonneau in concert with her special guests. Award-winning Island singer-songwriter Genevieve Charbonneau is showcasing her latest collection of heartfelt songs in an island tour starting March 1. Her album, entitled “Heart is a Tower” is the first album recorded at SLS Studios, the new state-of-the-art recording studio at Shawnigan School, run by Grammy-winning engineer Steve Smith out of Seattle. Charbonneau, who won the 2017 BC songwriting competition, spent months in the studio fine-tuning the love and family-themed songs with producer and fellow songwriter Jack Connolly. The result is a stunning album with firm folk roots but high production values. Charbonneau will be accompanied by her band The Wild Sundays, as well as Jack Connolly on guitar and drummer Brian Horwitz.
