From the Rector’s Desk
This Sunday is World Food Day, and we are all aware that there many in the world and in our own community here is Victoria who do not have access to good, healthy food. Research has shown that the planet can produce enough food to feed everyone but we fall very short in terms of production and distribution. While all of us try to “do our bit” to contribute to a solution to this problem, sometimes our efforts can seem like a drop in the ocean, making little difference to the overarching problem. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells a parable about a persistent woman who wouldn’t give up in her fight for justice. We can take inspiration from this story and from Jesus’ instruction to “pray constantly”. We should not underestimate the power of prayer as we strive, each in our own way for justice. Prayer changes things. It changes us and empowers us to change the world. Many injustices of the past no longer exist because people of faith prayed and were relentless in working for justice. We can do the same with the challenges that confront us in our own time. Rev Colleen |
