Welcome back!
Early this morning I had the chance to slip away and watch the sun come up over the Salish Sea. The air was cool with whispers of the change of season ahead of us. I was aware of the amazing privilege it is to live here - to be surrounded by such amazing natural beauty and also aware of the parts of this sacred earth that are groaning. Thus we enter this season of creation with praise and lament on our lips. You will see throughout this newsletter so many different ways to engage the season - art, video, books studies and through your own careful attention to the world around you. Take off your shoes for a moment and feel the dry grass under you, or sink your toes into the warm, then cool sand. Listen for the bird song or learn the name of a plant or flower you pass by. We will be marking the season in song and liturgy at our Sunday (and Thursday!) gatherings. We also wanted to thank you for your incredible faithfulness and presence over this seemingly endless pandemic. You have weathered losses and joys and through it all have continued to prayerfully support this community. We are so excited to move into the fall fully in-person for worship. For those of you who haven't been back for a while, it will look similar to our last reopening. We will remain masked and vaccinated while the spike in COVID cases continues but we will be back in the church and will be able to come around the table to receive the bread of life. One of the things we loved about our time on Zoom was the richness of our discussion of the Sunday scriptures and how they brought our own life and experiences into conversation with these ancient but living texts. We will continue this tradition on Thursdays at 10 am starting on September 16th. We will have tea and coffee available at 930 and then will settle into a time of worship with Eucharist and discussion. With all, you have carried and will continue to carry this fall, know that God's peace envelopes you and God's love surrounds you. Your clergy team is here for you and eager to connect with you so please reach out if you are up for a walk or visit or communion at home. We remain commited to creating a home for all! As the season's turn may you know the deep and sure presence of God's faithfulness reflected in the brilliant glow of an early morning sunrise or the scent of new rain on the summer dry earth. Yours in Christ, Meagan, Matt & Rob |
Welcome to our Sunday Organist!
We are excited to welcome Dainel Brown who will join us most Sundays to lead us in music.
Daniel has loved church music his whole life. He started piano lessons at age 11 with a desire to play the Organ. A few months into Piano lessons he was asked to play the Organ at his home church in Fernandina Beach, Florida. At age 13 his family moved to Invermere, British Columbia and he continued to find opportunities to praise God through music.
At age 24 he took Hospitality Managment at Brigham Young University - Idaho, and there had his first Organ lessons! His self-taught level of accomplishment showed wonderful natural talent; bringing him to be a guest Organist in the Mormon Tabernacle on May 12th, 2016.
In August 2016, Daniel moved to Victoria, BC for oprotunities in Hospitality work. He was also happy to find oprotunities to expand his love for the Organ here. He then met the love of his life, and married his husband in December 2018.

Thank you for contributing to all our health and wellbeing! Memory and history are the inspiration and central elements in Barbara McCaffrey’s work. She is influenced by events that have created emotional and historical value both familial and through travel which have persisted in her memory into textile pieces. McCaffrey works with a variety of materials including handmade paper, felt and cloth. Her interests lie in the manipulation of images, materials and process, often shifting their context to explore new and unexpected translations. Often she embellishes surfaces and textures to create expressions inspired by travel and relationships. Colour, shape and line enhance the surfaces of her work. Barbara McCaffrey has a 4-year Diploma in Textiles (with Distinction) as well as a B.F.A. from the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary. (Now called Alberta University of the Arts). Barbara has exhibited widely throughout Alberta and B.C. including the Sooke Fine Arts Show, the Sidney Fine Arts Show and annually with the Vancouver Island Surface Design Group. Her work was also included in the FibreArts Design Book 7, published by Lark Books. She has received numerous ‘Juror’s Choice” Awards for her work which can be found in private collections in Canada and the United States. “I am aware of the weight and power of memories. I strive to make the invisible, visible by the narrative I display in my work.”

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. The book is available electronically or in paperback from several local and online retailers. More information about the study available September 1 on the diocesan website.
