DESCRIPTION:Image Artist: Juan Correa\, PeaceGeeks\nTechnique: AI Prompts a
nd digital web tools\nYou're invited to St. George's to learn about the wo
rk of the Canadian not-for-profit organization\, PeaceGeeks\, and their su
pport of displaced persons.\nEric Hansen from PeaceGeeks writes:\n"More th
an 100 million people around the world are displaced from their homes. I s
uspect these refugees and immigrants want to feel the way I do as I write
this\, and the way I hope you feel as you read it: safe and secure in a pl
ace I call home.\nPeaceGeeks is a Canadian based charity that builds websi
tes and mobile apps to help displaced people find safety and essential res
ources in countries around the world. One of our free tools\, WelcomeCoach
.ca\, is funded entirely by supporters and donors. It has helped hundreds
of thousands of newcomers to Canada settle sooner\, so they can thrive\, b
uild their homes\, and strengthen our communities.\nOur technology serves
refugees and immigrants directly\, and it also helps volunteers and other
nonprofits reach more people through affordable digital tools\, websites a
nd niche phone apps\, technology tools for effective help. \nMost nonprof
its still rely heavily on paper\, yet most refugees and immigrants have sm
artphones. We help bridge that gap. We started as a grassroots organizatio
n a decade ago and have since been recognized and supported by the United
Nations\, Accenture and governments but we need to grow our grassroots sup
port from individuals to keep our work going."\nOn Wonderful Wednesday\, N
 ovember 4\, we'll explore questions like:\n\nCan artificial intelligence b
e used ethically?\nHow is PeaceGeeks helping more health care workers get
into jobs in British Columbia?\nHow are programs like our Skilled Newcoome
rs and Professionals Partnership (SNAPP) mentoring helping strengthen the
Canadian economy during a trade war and as our population ages?\n\nCoffee
 at 9:45am\; discussion 10-11:30am\n
